Storm System Category 3 Hi-Build Finish contains an extremely hard-working Semi-Solid Formula. These impressive finishes combine a beautiful semi-solid stained look with long-lasting durability. Reinforced for maximum durability, these finishes are perfect for log siding, wood screening, fencing and outdoor furniture. This product decorates and protects exterior wood siding from weather and temperature changes. This product can be used on new wood and previously stained wood with proper preparation. Apply one coat over previously stained surfaces but two coats will provide maximum protection on new or unfinished wood.
For use on vertical surfaces only.
Surfaces must be thoroughly dry to allow penetration. Surfaces must be clean and free from all other coatings that may prevent penetration. Always test a small area before application to the entire surface. All mildewed areas should be cleaned with Storm System All Surface Mold & Mildew Stain Remover. New pressure treated wood should be scrubbed with Storm System All Surface Cleaner to remove all surface deposits. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Cedar, Redwood, Cypress and some other woods contain a natural water-soluble ingredient, “tannin,” that will show as a reddish-brown stain when it migrates to the wood surface. If these stains appear, they may be removed by washing with a mild detergent solution and rinsing with clear water. All surfaces should be sanded down to remove any dead wood fibers from the surface, to ensure proper penetration and adhesion. New Cedar or redwood siding may have Mill Glaze. Abrading the surface by sanding will ease the surface tension and allow for the stain to properly penetrate and adhere.
Lead Warning ! -
If you scrape, sand or remove old paint from any surface, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Carefully clean up with a wet mop or HEPA vacuum. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself and your family by contacting the U.S. EPA/Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD (5323) or log on to www.epa.gov/lead. Stir thoroughly. Additional light stirring during application may be necessary to maintain color uniformity.
This product is of proper consistency as packaged, to be applied without thinning under normal environmental and application conditions. This product can be applied by synthetic brush, roller or spray. Stain only a few boards or small area at a time. Vertical boards or shingles should be stained continuously from the top, always working to the edge of a board or shingle to avoid overlapping. Horizontal siding should be started at the top and worked across, always working towards an edge or break such as a door or window. Avoid overlapping. Appearance varies with different species of wood. Samples should be tested on the actual wood being used to insure acceptable appearance.
